Huawei Marine Networks, following the successful implementation of the SG-SCS cable system in May 2010, along with parent Global Marine Systems, is currently implementing further system expansions. The demand driven by regional growth in South America also extends out via other submarine networks to Miami, as part of a wider growth story.
This marks the successful first commercial deployment of the Huawei Marine Networks' innovative RPT 1660 two fibre pair Repeater and 1650 Branching Unit, marking the start of alternative submarine turn-key solutions for customers on a global footprint.
The SG-SCS system, with advanced ASON functionality and rich service set based upon upgradable SLTE (10G to 40G) and NPE offers the customers an in service roadmap ranging from SDH, optical wavelengths and Gigabit/Ethernet based client services, among many others.
With all these network elements (both cable landing station equipment, city POP locations and wet plant) all managed from a single network management system the customers are truly able to monitor and provision new services at a click of a mouse. Simplification of the operational aspects had been a key driver and benefit from this deployment and innovative technology.
The project which has been jointly undertaken by Telesur of Suriname & Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Co. Ltd and installed by Global Marine Systems (www.globalmarinesystems.com) along with joint venture partner Huawei Marine Networks (www.huaweimarine.com) who supplied the electronics and the innovative RPT 1660 repeaters used throughout the system.
