On March 30, 2010 the Office of Naval Research (ONR) awarded BlueView Technologies, Inc. a contract to deliver five (5) custom MicroBathymetry sonar systems with 90 degrees field-of-view. The ultra-high resolution 3D sonar will provide critical gap fill and target identification capabilities for US Navy unmanned underwater vehicles.
The project specifications called for high-resolution 3D sonar with expanded field-of-view that delivers laser-like imagery despite water clarity levels. The new BlueView sonar is an adaptation of the highly popular MB2250-45 MicroBathymetry Sonar and promises to yield new commercial grade units.
