Bluefin Robotics and Hydroid awarded contracts for UUVsThe U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Hydroid Inc. and Bluefin Robotics Corp. each a contract for the delivery of an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV).



Hydroid Inc.

Hydroid Inc., East Falmouth, Mass., is being awarded a $30,339,694 fixed-price, prospective price re-determination, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, completion contract to produce, deliver and support an unmanned underwater vehicle for use in conducting very shallow water mine countermeasure operations. Work will be performed in East Falmouth, Mass., and is expected to be completed in November 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured and advertised on the Internet, with 17 proposals solicited and two offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Indian Head Division, Indian Head, Md., is the contracting activity (N00174-03-D-0018).

Bluefin Robotics Corp., Cambridge, Mass., is being awarded a $28,120,460 fixed-price, prospective price re-determination, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, completion contract, to produce, deliver and support an unmanned underwater vehicle for use in conducting very shallow water mine countermeasure operations. Work will be performed in Cambridge, Mass., and is expected to be completed by November 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured and advertised on the Internet, with 17 proposals solicited and two offers received.
