Nortek releases 600 kHz Z-cellNortek AS is pleased to announce that they have released a 600 kHz Z-cell model of the Aquadopp profiler. Because of the greater blanking and cell size, the relevance of measuring "cell zero" close to the bottom or to the surface is even more pronounced in the 600 kHz unit than it is with the 1 MHz unit already released.

The 600 kHz Z-cell transducer configuration uses only two horizontal beams, which is enough to resolve the horizontal velocity components. The benefit of using two instead of three beams is that transducer head could be kept to the same size as the standard 600 kHz head. This means that the extra velocity level could be added without increasing the mechanical size.

The 600 kHz Z-cell firmware has been thoroughly tested and the results show that cell zero measures correctly also in the presence of tilt.
