Submarine maker Perry Slingsby Systems will close its 45,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Jupiter Park of Commerce later this year, although the company plans to keep an engineering and development center in Jupiter.
Perry Slingsby has 113 employees in Jupiter, said Steve Rampton, regional director at Perry Slingsby's parent, Triton Group. It's unclear how many Perry Slingsby employees will remain in Jupiter after the plant closes, Rampton said.
Perry Slingsby makes so-called remotely operated vehicles used by oil companies and treasure hunters for underwater work. The slow economy has hurt sales, Rampton said.
