Falck Nutec opens offshore safety training centre in VietnamGlobal provider of health, safety and rescue training services, Falck Nutec, expands into Vietnam. In co-operation with local partners - Mermaid Maritime Vietnam and Alternative Company - Falck Nutec is opening a brand new training centre in Vung Tau, the rapidly expanding petroleum hub of Vietnam.

"We are excited to get the opportunity to serve the oil and gas operators in Vietnam with internationally recognised and high quality safety and rescue training in close cooperation with our local partners. With this development those engaged in the industry will no longer have to look outside the country for the critical and specialised safety training that is needed for the expanding sector," says Mr. Wan Shukry, Regional Managing Director of Falck Nutec's Far East Asian activities.

The new training centre will become the first training provider in Vietnam to be certified by OPITO, the widely recognised training standards and competence organisation.

The centre will be located next to the premises of Mermaid Maritime Vietnam and will offer a range of products and services to the offshore, marine and aviation industries.

"Our joint venture with Falck Nutec is a continuation of Mermaid's four-year programme which focuses on developing a leading comprehensive safety and service centre in Vung Tau. There is an excellent synergy between our companies' activities and we look forward to an exciting future together," says Mr. Joergen Lundbaek, Managing Director of Mermaid Maritime Vietnam.

The new training centre is expected to open in April 2009 and will be able to immediately cater for up to 5000 students annually.

Mr. Ngo Xuan Binh, Managing Director of Alternative Company, was impressed by what he saw during a recent trip to the well-equipped training centre of Falck Nutec in Esbjerg, Denmark.

"The training activities in Esbjerg are concentrated on training the staff on all levels in order to avoid accidents in the workplace. After witnessing this I strongly believe that this kind of training, when offered in Vietnam, will help Vietnamese enterprises upgrade their workplace safety conditions to international standards and thereby provide a robust support to our local oil and gas industry in its further expansion into international markets", says Mr. Ngo Xuan Binh.

The shareholders of the training centre will be Falck Nutec (80%), Mermaid Maritime Vietnam (15%) and Alternative Company (5%).
