Tritech reports continued success with the StarFish Seabed Imaging System; the first of its kind, high definition low cost side scan sonar towfish.
The ability to 'see' the outline of the seabed before even getting into the water has been an evolving requirement for many divers. The StarFish makes this possible using the most advanced electronics available.
As with the entire range of Tritech's professional, acoustic products StarFish uses the latest, digital CHIRP technology. This ensures optimum range resolution, producing spectacular and detailed pictures of features on the seabed over an area up to 200 metres wide.
StarFish technology has become increasingly popular around the globe since its launch last year. Worldwide distribution networks and sales to Australia, China, India and US are just some countries on the list of StarFish enthusiasts.
The recent Dive 2008 exhibition in Birmingham, UK proved to be an enormous success with interest from a number of market sectors all interested in developing their businesses using StarFish.
StarFish Business Development Manager, Tamara Brilz says:
"Dive clubs, charters, underwater archaeologists and leisure divers all showed great interest in StarFish at the recent dive show. Given the array of applications, from wreck location to search and recovery, StarFish has proven itself to be a versatile and dynamic side scan sonar."
"Dive 2008 provided us with an excellent opportunity to receive feedback and generate ideas for future development. We are as excited as our visitors to bring in the New Year with an expansion of equipment from our leisure line."
Manufacturers have, since the first side scan sonars were developed, predominantly focused on a cylindrical or torpedo-shaped towfish body. The revolutionary, new tow body of StarFish challenges these old concepts and provides several advantages. The compact design and unique shape dramatically improves the stability of the small, lightweight sonar and with it the quality of the seabed images.
Producing stunning images of the seabed, it's currently the smallest towfish side scan sonar on the market. The lightweight StarFish can be easily carried in a standard sized rucksack and deployed by one person from the smallest of vessels.
StarFish is truly 'Plug and Play' connecting to your Windows PC or laptop via a USB Port. It out performs many larger commercial systems, yet the intuitive software makes it very easy to use.
