Schilling Robotics, a leading producer of remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) and remote manipulator systems, has hired Ryan Lumsden as commercial manager for Schilling Robotics Ltd. Lumsden joins Schilling Robotics during a period of rapid expansion for the company.
Because of the subsea oil industry’s push into deeper water, the North Sea region is seeing rapid growth. This trend has created a higher demand for Schilling work-class vehicles and remote manipulator systems in the region.
Lumsden joins Schilling from Sub-Atlantic where, as sales manager, he conducted sales and marketing activities worldwide, providing a variety of subsea products, including ROVs, to the subsea industry. He will lend his skills in engineering and his experience in international sales to serve Schilling’s customers in the North Sea region.
Director of North Sea Operations George Shirreffs comments on the hiring of Lumsden, "Ryan brings several years of varied experience ranging from practical hands-on work to technical sales and management. His appointment will enable us to expand our commercial capabilities and raise the profile of Schilling Robotics Ltd."
Previous to joining Sub-Atlantic in January 2006, Lumsden served as technical sales-support engineer for Kongsberg Maritime, service engineer for Kongsberg Simrad, and hydraulic fitter for Lumsden Engineering.
Lumsden feels that his early experience with engineering and hydraulics at Lumsden Engineering, a family-owned business, has provided him with a good grounding and practical approach for his 10-year career in the ROV industry.
Lumsden carries a Higher National Diploma in Mechatronics and is studying towards a graduate certificate in management studies at the Robert Gordon University of Aberdeen.
