About Ormen Lange
The Ormen Lange gas field was discovered by Hydro in 1997. The reservoir is around 40 kilometres long and eight kilometres wide, approximately 3000 metres below the surface of the sea. Ormen Lange will be a pioneer project on the Norwegian continental shelf. The field is situated in an area of the Norwegian Sea where climatic and oceanographic conditions make it one of the most challenging development projects in the world. The Ormen Lange field is situated 100 kilometres north west of the Møre coast in Mid-Norway. Processing will take place at Nyhamna on the west coast of Norway. The gas will be exported to Easington on the east coast of England trough a 1200 kilometer long export-pipeline.
