New-build Fugro survey vessel starts work in Gulf of MexicoFugro GeoServices Inc.'s new-build survey vessel, R/V Fugro Enterprise (LOA 52 meters/170 feet), has entered service. The Fugro Enterprise is presently mobilizing for the first of three deepwater surveys in the Gulf of Mexico. The vessel was designed from the outset to meet the requirements of both the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) compliance for international vessels over 500 tons. Commissioning included full inspections for both.

The vessel carries a suite of high-resolution geophysical survey equipment including Echo Surveyor II, a Hugin 3000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, as the primary system. This AUV is equipped with multibeam echosounder, side scan sonar and sub-bottom profiler sensors capable of working for up to 60 hours continuously in water depths of 3,000 metres/10,000 feet. Survey data can be processed onboard and be available from the vessel in near real-time via broadband connection to Fugro's and/or clients' offices.

The unique combination on the Fugro Enterprise of HSE systems, workspace, accommodation, endurance and the latest survey equipment is consistent with Fugro's established ability to provide the most efficient and cost effective AUV survey work available.
