Engineering contractors Saipem's US unit has extended its charter of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support vessel Harvey Discovery in the Gulf of Mexico from 2008 through to 2011, it said today.
Saipem America said the vessel would serve as a base for its new Innovator Leviathan ROV using its dedicated 11,000-foot deployment winch.
The ship is owned by Harvey Gulf International Marine.
The 265-foot vessel US-flagged vessel is also equipped with a 65-tonne knuckle boom crane, a 144-square-foot moon pool, dynamic positioning capabilities and 9000 square feet of clear deck space. The ship has berths for a crew of 46.
Saipem said the vessel was equipped to handle surveys, light construction and well intervention.
The new charter will run from November 2008 and November 2011.
