Company's New Vessel Sets Sail

This is North Scotland in association with the Press and JournalAberdeen-based global shipping and energy company the Craig Group has launched a new vessel in Spain.

The Grampian Talisman - representing an investment of £12 million - will join the firm's fleet of offshore vessels later this year.

The latest North Star Shipping PSV, the Grampian Talisman was launched on the 22nd March 2007 at the Balenciaga Shipyard in Northern Spain.The 256ft platform ship was launched by Samantha Craig - the fourth generation of the family to work at the company.

North Star operates 29 ships and has just taken delivery of three newly-built emergency response and rescue vessels as part of a seven-ship, new-build programme to modernise its fleet.

Craig Group managing director Douglas Craig said: "This additional investment is good news for the group, our industry and the North Sea in general.

"It underlines our confidence in their long-term future."

Since 2001, the group has invested a total of £70 million in new ships.
